  • Call for Applications The VIB-IPBO(International Plant Biotechnology Outreach) Open Doors Fellowship Program 2024

    The Open Doors Fellowship program is accepting applications from women researchers in Africa to acquire necessary hard and soft skills to strengthen their placements within the hosting institutions and ultimately, avoid dropping out before the consolidation stage. Applicants must be post-doctoral(a minimum of one year after defending their PhD) or mid-career women researchers who experience challenges to progress in their careers due to limited access to training, infrastructure and international networks, must be nationals or residents in one of the VLIR-UOS scholarship countries(Benin, Burkina Fase, DR Congo, Ethiopia, Kenya, Uganda, Senegal, South Africa and Tanzania). They must be in either of the following research fields; plant breeding, agrobiotechnology, molecular biology and genetics, microbiology, chemical ecology, plant and soil health, livestock and aquaculture. They must have an active employment contract in a high education institute or an (inter)national research centres in any of the countries listed above for the duration of the fellowship. Benefits include laboratory access to fast-track research, and financial incentives at different stages of the fellowship to attend congresses and open-access publication fees.   • Call for Applications The European University Institute(EUI) and Florence Schools of Transnational Governance (STG) Policy Leader Fellowship(PLF) 2024/2025

    The Policy Leader Fellowship (PLF) at the Florence Schools of Transnational Governance (STG) is accepting applications for a residential programme from policy professionals within a range of policy fields in: politics, civil service, media, non-governmental institutions and others to develop policy recommendations and practical solutions for pressing issues of transnational relevance inspired and informed by their work experience. Applicants must be mid-career professionals in policy with a minimum of 10 years of professional experience. Benefits include a basic grant of British Sterling Pound 2,500, family allowance where applicable up to British Sterling Pound 300, and British Sterling Pound 200 for a dependent child, and reimbursements for travel expenses.   • Call for Applications The GSK Africa Open Lab 2024

    The GSK Africa Open Lab is accepting applications from African early-stage career scientists with an interest in conducting research in infectious disease epidemiology, prevention and control, gaps in knowledge and mechanisms to improve access to medicines and vaccines of infectious disease in Africa. Applicants must be a principal investigator ;as a biomedical scientist, a clinically qualified investigator, public health researcher and has not previously completed as a principal investigator for a research grant about GBP 100, 000.  They must have a minimum formal qualification of a graduate degree and have no more than 5 years from their highest postgraduate qualification. They must be nationals of a Sub-Saharan country and be employed by a research or academic institution in Sub-Saharan Africa. Benefits include an award of up to GBP 100, 000 to cover the project for 36-months for equipment, fieldwork, data collection, research assistance and consumables, training activities for research career development and scientific mentorship support.   • Call for Applications The World Bank Robert S. McNamara Fellowship Program 2024

    The World Bank Robert S. McNamara Fellowship is accepting applications  for an 8-month fellowship to work under the supervision of researchers in the World Bank’s Development Impact (DIME) and Development Research Group department, engaging in high-quality and policy-relevant research projects. Applicants must be economic researchers from developing countries to participate in rigorous policy-research projects. Benefits include a competitive compensation package of USD 46,500 for the fellowship period paid monthly and an opportunity to showcase research and contribution to development policy on World Bank Development Economics Let’s Talk Development blog.   • Call for Applications The Gender Equity/GBV Evidence Accelerator Fellowship 2024

    The Center for Global Women’s Health & Gender Equity is accepting applications for a year-long part-time fellowship to build skills in evidence generation, synthesis/analysis, and translation for gender equity and GBV. Applicants must be in low- and middle- income context, must have some experience in gender equity/GBV, must demonstrate a need for additional skills in evidence-based gender equity/GBV research, programmes and/or policy to accelerate impact of work. They must be but not limited to fields in gender equity/GBV roles in programme monitoring and evaluation, community researcher, practitioners, or PhD students outside the United States. Benefits include travel costs, course registration at John Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health (BSPH) and faculty mentoring. (Deadline: 28 February)

  • Call for Applications the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science(JSPS) and the United Nations University(UNU) 

    The Japan Society for the Promotion of Science(JSPS) and the United Nations University(UNU) are accepting applications from young scholars and policy makers from developing countries to pursue advanced research and training in their area of professional interest. Applicants must hold a doctoral degree by the time of application(period of maternity/paternity leave distracted) or be scheduled to receive a doctoral degree before the fellowship begins, and be citizens of countries with diplomatic relations with Japan. Benefits include an airfare ticket, maintenance allowance of Japanese Yen 362, 000 per month, and a miscellaneous settling allowance of Japanese Yen 200,000 and overseas travel insurance.(Deadline: 10 March)

  • Call for Applications The British Academy International Fellowships 2024

    The British Academy is accepting applications from early career researchers to develop an independent research career across international borders. Applicants must have a PhD or be in the final stages of their PhD provided that the PhD will be completed before the start of the fellowship and have no more than 7 years of active postdoctoral at time of application (discounting career breaks, but including teaching experience). They must not be nationals or working in the United Kingdom (UK) and have a clearly defined mutually-beneficial research proposal with a United Kingdom (UK) researcher. Benefits include a fellowship award offered at 80% FEC, research expenses of up to British Sterling Pound 12,000,  relocation allowance of up to British Sterling Pound 8, 000 and eligibility of an alumni funding following their tenure at the fellowship.   • Call for Applications The Goethe-Institut/Prince Claus Fund Cultural and Artistic Responses to the Environmental Crisis(CAREC) Mentorship Award 2024

  • The Prince Claus and the Goethe-Institut are inviting artists or cultural practitioners to submit applications for the Cultural and Artistic Responses to the Environmental Crisis(CAREC) mentorship award whose practice envisions alternative, community-based models of climate justice for the planet. The applicants must be mid-career artists and cultural practitioners, have  8 - 15 years of relevant experience and commit 10 hours per month to the fellowship. Benefits include an award of USD 10, 000 to work on the concept for a body of work that is outlined in the application. (Deadline: 21 March)

  • Call for Application for the 2024 Women in Africa (WIA) Young Leaders Programme
    The WIA Young Leaders program, organized by Women In Africa (WIA) Philanthropy, aims to support and spotlight young African women leaders shaping the continent's future. In partnership with Dior, Lazard, KPMG, and TotalEnergies, the 4th edition seeks candidates aged 25 to 40, with African heritage, committed to Africa's development, and demonstrating leadership qualities. Preference is given to candidates with self-made backgrounds and a vision for Africa's future, capable of balancing business, social impact, and dialogue.   • Call for Application for the University of Pretoria Tuks Young Research Leader Program
    The University of Pretoria Tuks Young Research Leader Programme (TYRLP) is now accepting applications, in collaboration with the Africa Science Leadership Programme (ASLP), Inclusive Innovation, and the Robert Bosch Stiftung. Geared towards early career researchers across various disciplines, the program aims to cultivate leadership, team-building, engagement, and collaboration skills to address complex societal challenges. It also seeks to foster a community of like-minded young researchers aligned with UP's vision for 2025. The leadership program identifies and supports early career academics with leadership potential, providing them with skills applicable to their academic pursuits and fostering cross-disciplinary networks. The curriculum, delivered through interactive sessions and mentorship, emphasizes collective leadership, systems thinking, networking, stakeholder engagement, and problem-solving. Candidates are expected to commit to the two-day training session and subsequent engagement with peers and mentors. The selection process prioritizes individual qualities alongside diversity in culture, subject background, and gender, focusing on research excellence, collaborative spirit, and commitment to engagement and communication.   • Call for Proposals for Special Issues Journal of Refugees Studies
    The Journal of Refugee Studies (JRS) is currently seeking proposals for special issues that contribute to scholarly discourse in the field of refugee and forced migration studies. Special issues typically consist of eight to ten original articles accompanied by a comprehensive introduction by guest editors, aiming to advance understanding and inspire future research in the field. Proposals should adhere to specific guidelines, including a maximum word count of 5,000 and the inclusion of key elements such as article abstracts, contributor biographies, and proposed timelines. The selection process will prioritize proposals based on their potential scholarly impact, coherence, originality, and diversity of contributions. JRS encourages submissions from researchers from underrepresented groups and emphasizes considerations of representation and diversity in proposal development. (Deadline: 30 April)
