(RUFORUM call) Call for manuscripts: African Journal for Rural Development(AFJRD). This is an online open access scientific journal that publishes articles on a quarterly basis (March, June, September, December). It is a multi-disciplinary peer-reviewed journal with an ultimate purpose of sharing and increasing the depth of knowledge on aspects of sustainable rural development. Regular articles, short communications and reviews accepted. (Open)
Conference for young scientists in Africa on Genomics and Human Heath in Africa. This is jointly organized by Sudanese National Academy of Sciences (SNAS), the Sudan Academy of Young Scientists (SAYS) in partnership with the World Academy of Sciences (TWAS) Regional Office for Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA) in Khartoum, Sudan from 2-7 December 2018. United Nations University (UNU-WIDER) Visiting PhD Fellowship. This fellowship provides an opportunity for doctoral students to utilize the facilities at UNU-WIDER for their PhD dissertation or thesis research and to work with their researchers in areas of mutual interest. (Deadline: 30 September)
CLIFF-GRADS scholarships for short-term scientific training and research stays on topics related to emissions and carbon storage in agriculture. CLIFF-GRADS is a joint initiative of the CGIAR Research Program on Climate Change (CCAFS) Low Emissions Development Flagship and the Global Research Alliance on Agricultural Greenhouse Gases (GRA). Call for Papers: 3rd EAI International Conference on Innovations and Interdisciplinary Solutions for Undeserved Areas (INTERSOL2019), Feb 14-15, Cairo, Egypt. This is an international conference dedicated to the advancement of interdisciplinary researches that address people’s needs in underserved areas. It will be hosted by EAI – European Alliance for Innovation (Deadline: 7 October)
Evidence-informed Policymaking Seminar - Water-Energy-Food-Health by the European Commission. The Evidence Informed Policy Making (EIPM) seminar will train participants to use evidence for policy making by focusing on challenges and interrelations of those fields. (Deadline: 8 October)
AWARD (African Women in Agricultural Research and Development) Pan-African Fellowship. The AWARD fellowship is a career-development program that equips top women agricultural scientists across the sub-Saharan Africa to accelerate agricultural gains by strengthening their science and leadership skills. 2019 Mandela Washington Fellowship for Young African Leaders. This is the flagship program of the Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI) that empowers young people through academic coursework, leadership training, and networking. (Deadline: 10 October)
Data Science Fellowship. The Data Incubator is a Cornell-funded data science training organization that offers an 8-week fellowship for master’s students, PhDs, and postdocs in STEM and social science fields seeking industry careers as data scientists. The Global Challenges Research Fund (GCRF). GCRF is a five-year £1.5 billion fund and a key component in the delivery of the UK Aid Strategy: tackling global challenges in the national interest. The fund aims to ensure that UK research takes a leading role in addressing the problems faced by developing countries (Deadline: 11 October)

Iso Lomso Fellowship for Early Career African Researchers Call. Iso Lomso fellowships by Stellenbosch Insitutute of Advanced Study (STIAS) provide an exceptional early career opportunity for Africa’s brightest minds in academia. Working Group in African Political Economy (WGAPE): Request for Applications: NYU-AD Meeting. WGAPE brings together faculty and advanced graduate students in Economics and Political Science who combine field research experience in Africa with training in political economy methods. The Sixth African Higher Education Week and RUFORUM Biennial Conference, 22-26 October, 2018. The 2018 Biennial conference is unique with a focus on university-agriculture community transformation. It will provide an opportunity for participants to showcase their innovations as part of enhancing the university-farmer community partnership and engagement for meaningful innovation. Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU) Commonwealth Blue Charter Fellowship 2019. As part of the Marine Plastics Research & Innovation Framework, the ACU is launching a new fellowship programme that will provide 35 academic fellows with 2-3-month placements at ACU member universities across the Commonwealth. Africa Science Leadership Programme (ASLP) 2019 for mid-career African Academics. The Programme is an initiative of the University of Pretoria and the Global Young Academy that aims to grow mid-career African academics in the areas of thought leadership, team management and research development. African Union Kwame Nkrumah Awards for Scientific Excellence (AUKNASE) Continental & Regional Awards 2018 Edition. Leaders in Innovation Fellowship Program. The programme is implemented under the umbrella of Kenya-UK Newton Fund Programme. The purpose is to nurture Kenyan technological innovators and support commercialization of innovations. DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service) Call for Scholarships Applications 2019 at the African Institute for Mathematical Science. DAAD promotes international academic exchange as well educational co-operation with developing countries through a variety of funding and scholarship programmes as part of the in-region scholarship programme, DAAD offers scholarships for PhD studies. Call for Abstracts for the 9th International African Evaluation Association (AfrEA) Conference. This will be taking place on 11-15 March 2019 in Abidjan, Cote D’Ivoire. Call for Applications Leibniz-Institute of Freshwater Ecology and Inland Fisheries Fellowship in Freshwater Science (IGB). The IGB invites excellent scientists from all countries and at different career stages to apply for their fellowships for postdocs and senior scientists for 6-24 months. Call for 3rd international conference for women in science without borders movement/ network (WISWB). The conference theme will be Science diplomacy for Sustainable Development. WISWB is an initiative to increase cooperation between female and male scientists on bases of excellence of scientific research where participants of WISWB are expected to present their cutting edge research. Call for Nominations London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine for the The Greenwood Africa Award.
