2025 Annual Report
This year’s theme, OPTIMISATION, echoes through every chapter of our work, and to bring it to life, we chose the language of braiding African hair to share the story of Mawazo in 2025.
After all, braiding is where heritage meets craft and where tradition meets innovation. It is patient, unhurried, section-by-section work, and it is that patience that makes the result hold. A braid is never the work of a single strand; it takes many hands, many strands, drawn together into something strong and beautiful.
This is a reflection of the work our Fellows do. Strand by strand, something begins to take shape, and its effects reach far beyond any single researcher. When women researchers are supported, the impact multiplies, reaching families, communities, institutions, and entire sectors across the continent.
Happy Reading!
